Scene analysis

The director of “Hotel Rwanda” Terry George uses non-diegetic sounds at every powerful opportunity he occurs, he uses them to add a power effect to other send a hidden message such as, when Paul Rusesabagina was told to take the river road as according to the supplier of Paul was clear which it wasn’t it was just so Paul could see what the “Hutu’s” had done to the “Tutsi’s”. It captures a shot of someting and makes the audience know what it is but wonder how it happens and then the non-diegetic sound then tell us the story.

he stepped out the car and we had a mid shot of him getting out of the car but he then drops out of the shot and that leaves the audience in suspense of wanting to know what has happened to him. When he drops it then switches to a quick close shot of a dead humans face and here is when the non-diegetic sound comes in, as soon as we see that close up of the face of the person a non-diegetic sound of a machete swoosh giving us a hidden message showing us that that is how she died.

  • This is a good start to you analysis , you went into detail with the non-diegetic sounds and how they were used in this scene and you also talked about the different camera angles used as well
A point to improve is to try and talk about something else
that all I have to say
